The FBI and DHS yesterday issued a Joint Intelligence Bulletin which warned faith-based organizations in the United States and U.S. embassies abroad that “the risk of violence could increase both at home and abroad as the film continues to gain attention.”

“First responders should remain aware of the potential for spontaneous large crowds and protests that could overwhelm resources and should be vigilant for possible efforts to encourage peaceful protesters to commit acts of violence,” the intelligence bulletin said.

The U.S. Embassy in Yemen was briefly breached by protesters on Thursday, and American diplomatic compounds throughout the Muslim world remained on high alert, as outrage spread over a mysterious anti-Muslim film apparently made in the United States.

Witnesses said hundreds of people stormed the embassy in Sanaa, Yemen’s capital, breaking through the outer security perimeter and setting fire to a building before being driven back by Yemeni security forces. Meanwhile, clashes continued for a third day outside the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, and smaller protests were reported in front of diplomatic offices in Tunisia and Bangladesh.

Americans paused again Tuesday to mark the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks with familiar ceremony, but also a sense that it's time to move forward after a decade of remembrance.

As in past years, thousands were expected to gather at the World Trade Center site in New York, the Pentagon and Shanksville, Pa., to read the names of nearly 3,000 victims killed in the worst terror attack in U.S. history. President Barack Obama was to attend the Pentagon memorial, and Vice President Joe Biden was to speak in Pennsylvania.

Hundreds fired in Afghan insider probe 09/06/2012 Hundreds fired in Afghan insider probe
Afghan authorities have detained or removed hundreds of soldiers in an investigation into rising insider attacks against international service personnel who are their supposed partners in the fight against Taliban insurgents and other militants, officials said Wednesday.

The crackdown is the result of the Afghan Defense Ministry’s effort to re-evaluate soldiers to stem the attacks, which are complicating plans to train Afghan forces so that most foreign troops can withdraw from the country by the end of 2014. President Hamid Karzai’s government hopes Afghan forces can take responsibility for security nationwide by that time.

New Hampshire Prison System Hacked By Inmates 09/04/2012 New Hampshire Prison System Hacked By Inmates
Prison inmates in New Hampshire recently breached the state's Corrections Offender Records and Information System (CORIS).

"According to the Associated Press, the breach was discovered [on August 24] when a prison staffer saw a cable connecting an inmate computer to that of a staff member's. ... Why inmates had anything close to access to a staff terminal is anyone's guess," writes SecurityNewsDaily's Ben Weitzenkorn. "Prison spokesman Jeffrey Lyons told the AP that the computers are used by about 24 inmates on a closed network for tracking and billing work done in prison."
